Today, galleries and artists\u2019 studios are part of the old village, continuing a tradition that has drawn many artists to Mougins over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Picasso first discovered Mougins in the 1930s and later chose to spend the final years of his life there. Francis Picabia also stayed in the village. Many other artists have since contributed to its close association with artistic creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That tradition continues today. Painters and sculptors still live, work and exhibit in Mougins, where art remains part of everyday life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Art at the Heart of Old Mougins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is probably what sets Mougins apart from many other places: there is no need to seek out art; you simply encounter it as you wander through the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A walk through the narrow streets may lead from a gallery to an artist\u2019s studio and then to a temporary exhibition. Painting, sculpture and photography can be discovered among the old houses, squares and passageways of the historic centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some artists have made Mougins their permanent home. Among them is the painter Marie Tissot, who has been based in the heart of the village for several decades and has her studio-gallery on Rue des Lombards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alain Choisnet and Mougins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:70%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mougins holds a special place for Alain Choisnet, as he ran a gallery in the heart of the old village for three years. He exhibited his sculptures there and met visitors from France and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has since returned to Mougins on several occasions to exhibit his work. Le Lavoir, at the entrance to the old village, has notably hosted his sculptures.
