Alain Choisnet is a French bronze sculptor dedicated to contemporary sculpture of women.
His work grows out of an attention to the simplest, most natural attitudes: a sense of ease, quiet confidence, a barely perceptible smile, a way of simply being there without seeking attention. He looks for neither the spectacular nor the symbolic. Each sculpture first takes shape through feeling, until the attitude becomes natural and alive. This sense of calm, closeness and naturalness is what he seeks in each of his creations.
His work explores three main themes: The Travellers, Nudes & Drapery, and Through Time. Each approaches a different aspect: the desire to escape elsewhere, the revealing of the body, and women through different eras.
The Travellers
Turned towards distant horizons, they seem ready to leave. Movement is suggested before it unfolds, capturing a suspended moment.
Nudes & Drapery
Nudes & Drapery explores femininity with subtlety. The human form is revealed or merely suggested, with quiet elegance.
